Rated 1 out of 5 by from LID BROKE ON 2 SEPARATE DIAPER PAILS The 1st one I purchased was, great for about 6 months then I started having problems with the lid not closing. It seemed like the rotating mechanism was getting jammed and that was preventing the lid from closing. The only way to get the lid closed was to jiggle the lid and that would get it closed most of the time. It was like this for about 1 month, then one day it just snapped and broke off. The hinges kept the lid attached to the base on the back were gone. I purchased a 2nd one thinking I just got a bad Apple. Same exact problem with the lid, only after 2 months this time. Not very happy with the quality of this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bags break and poo everywhere I was quite happy with this product until I noticed a very bad smell. I just thought the product wasn't working that well until I went to change the bag and realized the entire bag had split open down the side. It wasn't that it was too full - it was simply a problem with the bag and had spilled poopy diapers all over the inside of the pail. That was disappointing enough but this has happened at least 4 times now and once split open in my husband's car as he was taking out the trash and left dirty diaper contents all over his car. I don't think this is our fault but is a manufacturer defect or just poor quality to begin with. Besides that I've been rather pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent odor control but mechanically weak We've used this diaper pail for 2 1/2 years and loved the fact that there has never been a nasty smell in our daughter's room. However, about 6 months after she was born, the lid developed a problem while closing and has grown worse to the point where I cannot close the lid with the bag in place. It takes an incredible amount of force to close the lid and force the bag to twist, usually with a bouncing action required to coax it closed, and a horrible loud creaking, breaking sound accompanies this action! 5 stars for odor control, 1 star for the closing mechanism.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lid issues I loved this pail at first- I didn't feel like it held as many diapers as it should have, but I was definitely willing to overlook that because of ease of use and odor control. However, now the lid will hardly close, if at all, and when it does it sounds like breaking plastic and requires a lot of force. I can sometimes get it to close better by opening the door and untwisting the bag to let the diaper in further, but this defeats the purpose because I'm having to touch the bag of dirty diapers and letting all of the trapped odor out.So disappointed because we'll be adding the diapers of a 2nd baby any day now and feel like we don't have a good option for disposing of all of the dirty diapers that come with a newborn.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Been pretty happy Been pretty happy with the diaper pail overall, but have started to notice it's getting harder and harder to close the lid with only a few diapers in the pail nowadays and it does sound like it is breaking when I force it to close. Not exactly quiet when baby is sleeping. Also have noticed more of a smell, as it doesn't seem like the baking soda cartridge is sprinkling the baking soda with each close as it should be. I've checked the cartridge and the baking soda comes out fine when I shake it manually, but does not work with each close.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not do the job properly We used the diaper genie with our oldest son and loved it. Decided to try this system in hopes it didnt waste the bags as much. That is the only good thing about this product! We have had it for just over a year and within that year it has broken! It does not keep the smell of the diapers out, and now is attracting flies and larva! Not what I want in my house. So now, I am having to change the bags more often! Not happy with this product! Kinda wish I went with my gut and went with the diaper genie again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken lid/Self Sealing System I purchased this diaper pail about 6 months ago. It worked fine for some time, then the self sealing lid kept getting stuck. The diapers would go down, but the rotating circle just inside the lid kept jamming. The lid no longer closes unless you put all of your weight down onto it. It is so loud when you close it, it wakes up the baby from the drowsy sleep or wakes up anyone else in the kids bedroom. I am very disappointed in this product and strongly feel it should last more than 6 months.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved it but broke!! I have to say, that i absolutely loved this product. Had it over a year and it wasthe only pail that absolutely contained the dirty diaper smell. Unfortunately I heard the same catching sound for awhile, and today the entire back hinge just cracked, now there's no seal, so I guess i have to get rid of it which i'm very upset about because i love and have recommended this product. Wish I could get a replacement but at this point I probably wont' go out and buy a whole new one!
