Return Policy

Return of Online Orders

  • You may return purchases made from our websites within 30 days of receipt of your order for any reason.
  • Shipping charges are non-refundable.
  • Many of our vendor-fulfilled items (special orders) may need to be returned to the specified vendor. Please refer to the return address on your packing slip.
  • Merchandise returned must be in new condition and in its original packaging. Merchandise is not returnable if it has been assembled or used.
  • Due to health and sanitary reasons, swimsuits, breast pumps, breast pump accessories and fragrances are not returnable under any conditions.
  • Some merchandise returns are subject to a re-stocking fee. This is stated on the individual product pages
  • We apologize we do not currently offer an exchange program. Follow the instructions for Returns via Return Shipment below. Then place a new order for the desired items at Please note: You will be charged for shipping and handling on your new order.
  • All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt. Returned merchandise must be in new condition with original tags attached and/or packaging intact. Merchandise sent back in less than new condition will be discarded and refund will not be applied.

Returns Via Return Shipment

  1. Complete the return section on your packing slip by indicating the reason for return.
  2. Circle the item number of the items you are returning.
  3. Enclose the unused, unwashed and unworn merchandise with the tags attached along with the return slip.
  4. Because we cannot assume responsibility for lost or damaged packages or the whereabouts of your package in transit we recommend you insure your package and ship it via a trackable shipping method.
  5. Burlington Coat Factory will refund your credit card for the purchase amount less shipping and handling within 14 business days of receipt of your return. You are responsible for all return shipping charges.

        - Merchandise returned within 30 days of receipt will be refunded to the credit card used to place the order. If you placed an order with a Gift Card, a new E-Gift Card worth the return value will be emailed to you. If you placed an order with a Gift Card and a credit card, you will receive an E-Gift Card for the portion of your order paid with the Gift Card, and a credit to your credit card for the portion charged to your credit card on your original order.

        - If you are returning a gift that was bought by another customer, the original purchaser will receive a credit for the return on their credit card after the item is returned to our fulfillment center. You may alternatively return the gifted item to one of our local stores to receive a store credit or exchange the item.

  6. You will receive an email notifying you when we have received your return and credited your account. Please note: It may take up to two full billing cycles for your credit to appear on your credit card statement.

Returns to a Store of Product Purchased Online

  • Making a return to our store is a great way to get the items that you want when you want them! Bring the unused, unwashed, unworn merchandise and the packing slip to any Burlington Coat Factory store within 30 days of receipt of the item.
  • Customers returning an item to a store can make an exchange for any merchandise in the store or can be issued a gift card in the amount of the return. If you do not bring your packing slip to the store when returning items or you are returning outside of the thirty (30) day window, you will be credited the store's lowest selling price
  • Cash or Credit Card refunds are not available in stores.
  • Shipping and handling charges are nonrefundable.
  • Return credit for orders placed with PayPal can only be processed at our warehouse location. Please allow 14 days for all returns to be processed once they reach our warehouse facility.
  • Select items may not be returnable to the store. This will be indicated on the product page.
  • You will also need to present a photo-ID (passport, state issued driver’s licenses or IDs, military ID) at the time of the return.

Returns of Purchases Made at Your Local Store

  • An original receipt dated within 30 days of purchase is required for all returns/exchanges in our stores.
  • Merchandise must be new and in unused condition.
  • Refunds will be issued in the original form of payment. Returns from a check purchase will be sent a mail check within seven (7) days. Debit cards using a PIN will receive cash.
  • Merchandise returned from a completed layaway and receipted returns accepted after 30 days will receive a gift card.
  • Non-receipted returns, accompanied by a photo ID (driver’s license, state issued non-driver ID, passport, or military ID) and returns after 60 days will receive a gift card for the lowest selling price.
  • All returns are subject to system verification and/or approval.
  • Items bought in our local stores cannot be returned to our fulfillment center.
